WORKSHOP: TO BE A STUDENT IN SINGAPORE
, 11/08/2010 18:08On the afternoon of 19th June 2010, at the HCMC University of Social Sciences & Humanities, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies collaborated with the Association of Vietnamese Professionals in Singapore (Vietnam2020) to organize the conference titled "Be a Student in Singapore".
The conference attracted more than 150 students from various junior high schools, high schools, and universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Attending the conference were: Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies; Master Tran Cao Boi Ngoc, Vice Head of the Department of International Cooperation; Mr. Ong Jin Chwen, Area Director (Indochina) of Singapore Tourism Board; Dr. Peter Dinh Quang Nuong, Chief Executive Officer of Great Eastern Life Vietnam (a 100% Singapore-invested company); together with representatives from HTV (Ho Chi Minh City Television) and VTC (Vietnam Multimedia Corporation), as well as reporters from various newspapers and magazines.
At the conference, the speakers - mainly the students and alumni from top schools and universities in Singapore - presented about the educational system in Singapore, various schools and universities, educational programmes, scholarship schemes, application process, student life in Singapore's schools and universities, activities of the Vietnamese students' community in Singapore, and the sharings of successful alumni from Singapore.
The conference was very successful in bringing to the audience useful information about the country of Singapore in general, and the education of Singapore in particular, and contributing to the understanding and friendship between Vietnam and Singapore - 2 countries in the Southeast Asia region.
