PROF. SHIN VISITED CENTER FOR VIETNAMESE AND SOUTHEAST ASIAN STUDIES

On the morning of November 4th, 2010, Prof. Dr. SHIN Gyeonggu, Dean of Office International Affairs, Chonnam National University (CNU), Korea, paid a visit to Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies.
Chonnam National University, founded in 1952, was ranked No. 13 in Korea and 88 in Asia. Chonnam University currently has 33 Vietnamese students, the second most number of international students enrolled, behind China, which has 650 students. In 2011, it is expected that Chonnam National University will have 1,000 students from other countries. The famous program has many international scholarships for foreign students.
Professor SHIN desired to train human resources for Vietnam, and Chonnam National University will be a bridge for enterprises of Korea and Vietnam. Currently Chonnam National University has links with 12 universities in Vietnam, including Hanoi, Nha Trang, Tay Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh city.
During the meeting, Prof. SHIN expressed his good impression on Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen’s speech at the Asia Culture Forum held in Korea (see the speech at www.gic.or.kr, Issue No. 104). He would like a cooperation on training human resources for the Southeast Asian countries in the coming years.
