WELCOMING PROF. YUKIKO FUKAGAWA AND STUDENTS FROM WASEDA UNIVERSITY, JAPAN
, 27/09/2016 13:09The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies welcomed Prof. Yukiko Fukagawa and a group of students from the Waseda University (Japan) on the morning of September 26, 2016, on which occasion Dr. Tran Dinh Lam gave a talk on “Economic innovations in Vietnam” to the participants.
Dr. Tran Dinh Lam made a presentation on the Vietnam’s economy during the period of innovation, especially since the 1986 reform, to Prof. Yukiko Fukagawa and the Japanese students. Furthermore, he gave answers to their questions about the Vietnam’s economic growth, the development of different jobs and sectors as well as the country’s workforce.
Dr. Tran Dinh Lam gave a talk on “Economic innovations in Vietnam”.
Also present at the meeting were students of the Faculty of International Relations, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences. The students of the two universities had a chance to have discussions about the Vietnam’s economic issues during the innovation era. The Waseda University’s students gave a short presentation on the role of Japan in the development of Vietnam’s economy, especially in the textile industry. Those Japanese students thought that the Vietnamese labor force has been a great resource for the country’s economic advancement in the innovation period.

According to Prof. Yukiko Fukagawa, the event provided a good opportunity for Japanese students to get a better understanding of Vietnam in general and its economy in particular, as well as building a bridge for exchanges between the two countries’ students. Dr. Tran Dinh Lam hoped that there would be many other similar programs in order to foster the good relationship between the two countries’ students, and between the HCMC USSH and the Waseda University as well.
