A POSTGRADUATE OF TOKYO, UNIVERSITY JAPAN AND HIS SURVEY IN VIETNAM
, 02/10/2009 10:10From 22 to 24 of September 2009, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) met and worked with Atsushi Okada – a postgraduate of Tokyo, University Japan in the scheduled research program on "contract farming".
This research aims at understanding and comparing the advantages and disadvantages in establishing and operating cooperatives – which play the role of bridging farmers and companies. As a result, some suggested solutions may help and develop interprises to collect farming products from the farmers Vietnam.
The survey was conducted in Củ Chi district, Hồ Chí Minh city and some villlages of Tiền Giang province. On September 23rd, 2009, CVSEAS and postgraduate Atsushi Okada met and worked with head of union of cooperatives Tân Trung, Tân Phú Trung village, Củ Chi district, Hồ Chí Minh city, contacted and interviewed some farmers - members of these cooperatives. On September 24th, the research delegation also interviewed Tiền Giang Food company, Mỹ Tho city and cooperatives which tried their best to develop farming products considered the local strong points such as Vĩnh Kim milk fruit, Hoà Lộc mango…
The research of postgraduate Okada was evaluated to get high practical grade in enhancing the models of cooperatives between farmers - cooperatives/cooperating groups - companies trading and exporting farming products. Besides, this research also made some contribution to promoting sustainable exchange and cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
