ATTENDING THE ROK NATIONAL FOUNDATION DAY

On October 1st, 2010, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies took part in the Reception held by Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Ho Chi Minh city on the occasion of the ROK National Foundation Day.
4342 years ago Dangun, the founding father of Korea with his philosophy of humanitarianism “For the extension of human welfare”, founded the first nation of Korea. For the history of over four thousand years, the Republic of Korea has developed prosperously.
The Republic of Korea and Vietnam established the diplomatic relation in 1992. The two countries have rapidly developed their good relationship. The two-way trade between the two countries, which was only less than USD 500 million in 1992, reached USD 9.5 billion last year, and it exceeded USD 5.6 billion in the first half of 2010. Korea is now the biggest foreign direct investor in Vietnam.
Regarding the education sector, South Korea has offered many scholarships for Vietnamese researchers and studentsto study in Korea and funded for research projects by scholars in Vietnam. At the same time South Korea has sent many students to Vietnam to study and do research. The Consul General of South Korean hopes that South Korea will invest more in education to Vietnam in the future.
