INAUGURATION CEREMONY: SAEMAUL EXHIBITION AND EDUCATION SHOWROOM AND SAEMAUL UNDONG VIRTUAL REALITY CENTER

On December 27th, 2021, the Saemaul Undong Rural Development Center, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH, VNU-HCM) launched the Saemaul Education Showroom and Saemaul Undong Virtual Reality Center, introducing the Saemaul spirit in rural development as well as the achievements of the New Rural Program and the One-Product Per Commune Program (OCOP) to students and communities.
 
The inauguration had the participation of Ms. Cho Yeonmi - Head of Culture and Education Section, Consulate General of Korea in HCMC; Mr. Kwak Busung - Head of the representative office of the Saemaul Globalization Fund in Vietnam; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vu Hai Quan - Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Party Committee, President of VNU-HCM; Mr. Ho Truc Thanh - Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Binh Duong Province; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan - President of USSH, HCM-VNU, Director of the Saemaul Undong Center for Rural Development; and representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Rural Coordination Offices of several southern provinces and cities; representatives of partner universities and enterprises. Dr. Tran Dinh Lam - Director of CVSEAS also attended the event.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan introduced the history of the establishment and development of Saemaul Undong Rural Development Center on the cooperation between USSH and Saemaul Globalization Fund. She said, in 5 years of development from a fledgling unit, the Center overcame many challenges and gradually affirmed its prestige, position, and brand in the rural development fields in Vietnam on the basis of Saemaul’s values: diligence, self-reliance, and cooperation. Up to the present, the center has cooperated with over 40 domestic and international partners and has completed over 100 research projects, the majority of which focus on agricultural consulting for locals. She also appreciated the individuals and organizations supporting the university and center over the past two months. 
 
In the cooperation with USSH, Mr. Kwak Busung said the two parties have accomplished plenty of goals over the last five years, contributing to Vietnam’s rural development. In the upcoming time, SGF and USSH would continue to launch the second phase of new rural development in Vietnam to commercialize agricultural products and update technology.
 
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hai Quan expressed his happiness to the virtual reality center and commended the organizing team’s innovation. He claimed that the center's establishment was an international social science and technology collaboration. He hoped it would make major contributions to the country's mission and development.
 
On the occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, Ms. Cho Yeonmi, Mr. Kwak Busung, and Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the inauguration of Saemaul Education Showroom and Saemaul Undong Virtual Reality Exhibition Center.
At the end of the event, representatives and visitors visited the facility and experienced virtual reality technology. This technology is intended for both PCs and smartphones. Visit: https://crd-su-vr.hcmussh.edu.vn/
