OPENING CEREMONY OF A LAOTIAN CLASS

On the evening of September 15th, 2009, the opening ceremony of Laotian class took place in the exciting and cheerful atmosphere at room B010, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, HoChiMinh city.
Attending the meeting are Dr Thành Phần, vice-director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, Mr Nguyễn Văn Vinh, a Laotian philologist, cadres and leaners from many agencies in and out HoChiMinh city.
Dr Thành Phần made an opening speech, showing the practical significance of learning Laotian to enterprises and cadres at work and in cooperation with Laos, especially in the context of good occurrence of promoting investments.
Specialist Nguyễn Văn Vinh gave a general introduction on Laotian history and culture, and then briefly talked about the Laotian language in comparison to neighboring languages such as Thai and Khmer. His speech made a nice impression on all the learners about language, land and people of Laos. T
he ceremony went on successfully and all the learners began learning Laotian.
