SEMINAR WITH STUDENTS FROM MARA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY, SABAH CAMPUS, MALAYSIA
, 02/12/2016 15:12On November 29, 2016, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMC USSH), had a talk to 16 students from the Mara University of Technology, Malaysia, about economic innovations in Vietnam during the period of 1986-2016. Also present at the seminar were Dr. Zuraidah Binti Zaaba – Coordinator of the undergraduate program of the Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies (Mara University of Technology, Sabah Campus) and Nguyen The Trung, M.A. – Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic and National Policy Studies, HCMC USSH.

After the talk, the participant students and Dr. Zuraidah made different questions to Dr. Tran Dinh Lam about essential elements in Vietnam’s economic development these days as well as suggesting some ideas about how to enhance the quality of human resources in Malaysia and Vietnam in order to meet the demands of both state and private enterprises. Dr. Zuraidah also expressed his opinions on the education philosophies, human investment and management systems of the two countries.
The seminar helped the participants get a better understanding of the education philosophies and human resource development, reflecting the desire to have exchanges and cooperation among the Southeast Asian countries.

Apart from the seminar, students from the Mara University of Technology were participating in other activities during their short-term study trip to Vietnam. Dr. Tran Dinh Lam and Dr. Zuraidah Binti Zaaba hoped that in the future the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies and the Mara University of Technology would establish long-term and stable collaborations in order to improve the quality of undergraduate training in not only Malaysia but also in Vietnam, contributing to the development of the education systems in both countries.
