VIETNAM TOURISM FORUM

On 19 December 2008, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam hosted aforum on ‘What way we should do… ?’ which discussed urgent solutions to attract tourist coming to Vietnam.

Attending the forum were representatives of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, businesses in tourism and specialists on  economics, culture and society and press agencies. Representative of  Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) has attended this forum.

Participants shared and express their opinions on solutions to recover and develop Vietnam tourism today, especially in the context of economic crisis in the end of 2008. Dr. Lam shared his views and solutions for the present status of Vietnam tourism such as diversification of tourism products and services, people’s awareness education, improvement of tourism agents’ professionalism, reduction of tour price and increase of tour quality, speeding up advertising Vietnam country and people, etc.

The forum lasts from 20 December 2008 to 20 January 2009, there are especially conferences during the time of ASEAN – ATF Tourism Forum from 05 – 12 January 2009.

Tourism development need hearts and co-operation from many sides.
