WORKING SESSION WITH FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY AND PROF. MATSUBA SOICHI (DOSHISHA UNIVERSITY, JAPAN)
, 13/07/2009 23:07On March 28, 2008, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies and Faculty of Philosophy held a special talk with Prof. Matsuba Soichi (Prof. of Philosophy, Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan) at the conference room D102.
Also present at the talk were Associate Prof. Dr. Dinh Ngoc Thanh – Head of Office of Personnel and Administration, Associate Prof. Dr. Trinh Doan Chinh – Dean of Faculty of Philosophy, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, Dr. Thanh Phan – Vice Director of Center of Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, lecturers in Faculty of Philosophy, and several Japanese (Prof. Dr. Uemoto Masasharu, Prof. Dr. Isobe Masanari, Mr. Miura Ai, MA.).
The talk comprised two parts:
- An introduction to the Maurice Merleau-Ponty philosophical School and the direction and mission of philosophy in the coming future; presented by Prof. Matsuba Soichi.
- A discussion about the future cooperative possibilities of research and scholar exchange about philosophy between the two sides.
It is well-known that Prof. Matsuba Soichi is a now representative member of Association of Maurice Merleau-Ponty Philosophy Studies in Japan (http://www.merleau.jp). An international seminar, on the occasion of the 100th birthday of the philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty (14/3/1908–14/3/2008), is going to be organized at Rikkyo University (Tokyo, Japan) on the coming November. The Japanese side expressed a wish for an invitation for USSH representatives’ attendance.
