A TALK TO EXOTISSIMO TRAVEL 2017
, 20/03/2017 14:03On March 03, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam had a meeting with a delegation of the Exotissimo Travel from the US and gave a talk on Vietnam’s development and its socio-economic transformation.
Expressing their opinions about the Vietnamese government deciding to undertake economic reforms in 1986, the participants thought that it was a big, life-changing decision due to the fact that Vietnam had been influenced by a deep-rooted subsidized economy for a long time. Also, the country had not yet found any role model to follow, which means that it had to face more risks.
During the process of reform and development, however, Vietnam’s economy has made a number of major changes and obtained encouraging results. More specifically, the country has crossed the poverty threshold to become a country of average wage. To make sure the reform will be on track, the delegation emphasized that education and human resources training play a very important role, for they are the foundation for socio-economic development. In an era with technological advances, Vietnam needs to change its training programs to meet the society’s demands and get more information to ensure the country’s success in the path to industrialization with its internal strengths.
With around 21,000 Vietnamese students in the US alongside over 4.5 million Vietnamese people overseas, Vietnam is having a bigger advantage over any other countries. Yet it is essential to implement an effective policy in order to attract that source of workforce so that they can contribute to the country’s economic reform.
The Exotissimo Travel hope that the study and working environment in the US will facilitate the development of Vietnam’s education and promote changes to help Vietnam integrate with other regional countries. Several ideas shared by the delegation at the meeting included establishing a long-term goal for the country, creating favorable conditions for private businesses, and investing in Vietnamese products to be exported to other countries with their own domestic brand names instead of selling ingredients to foreign companies at a low price. In addition, Vietnam should pay more attention to educational policies and the wage rate for those working in this sector so as to encourage talents to make a long-term commitment to the field, for education is one of the top priorities in any country and greatly influences its socio-economic development. The above-mentioned discussions are the fundamental and practical elements for the process of industrialization and modernization in Vietnam.
