ATTAIN SUSTAINABLE URBAN TOURISM IN HO CHI MINH CITY

On May 17th, the discussion on “Comparative analysis of the tourism industry and sustainable tourism efforts in Thailand, Vietnam and the EU – Case study: Sustainability of Urban Tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam” was organized at University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMUSSH). 

The project conducted a research and compared the collected data with that of Thailand's and other European countries' to hold an efficient training to improve the tourism skills of the project’s participants including several universities, research centers and businesses.

The discussion focused on the following matters:

  • Touristic services and products offered in Ho Chi Minh City
  • Direct and indirect participation in the process of manufacturing products and services, as well as problems related to workforce capabilities in transportation industry
  • Funds to develop tourism in Ho Chi Minh City
  • Aspects in need of development to reach sustainable tourism in Ho Chi Minh City

The discussion was a part of a project aimed at the development of sustainable tourism, named “Develop a sustainable tourism and policies in financial management to make a positive improvement in Vietnam and Thailand’s tourism”.

The discussion session was not only an opportunity to broaden knowledge on sustainable tourism and the efforts made to reach that state in Ho Chi Minh City from both businesses and government, but also a good way to strengthen bonds of participating parties. This bond is quite necessary in ensuring successful training sessions in the future. 

Honored attendants include representatives from several institutions such as Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS), tourism businesses, as well as several training and education institutions in the industry. Specifically, the discussion received the attendance from the following guests: CVSEAS representative - Director Prof. Tran Dinh Lam, representatives from several tourist businesses, as well as representatives and scholars from eduactional and research institutions including Van Lang University and HCMUSSH.
