CVSEAS MEETS REPRESENTATIVES OF KOOKMIN UNIVERSITY, KOREA
, 08/12/2016 21:12On the morning of November 30, 2016, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, had a meeting with representatives of the Kookmin University, Korea.
Present at the occasion were attendees from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) – Vietnam National University HCM City, including Vice President Phan Thanh Dinh, Head of the Office of International Cooperation and Project Development Bang Anh Tuan and Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies Dr. Tran Dinh Lam. As for the Kookmin University (KMU), its representatives were Dr. Gyongwoo Yun, Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs and Dr. Jaekyung Yi, Senior lecturer of the Faculty of Accounting at the University.
Dr. Jaekyung Yi has collaborated with the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) to conduct training and human resource exchange for 12 years, including tens of workshops and seminars for over 150 Korean students and 400 counterparts at USSH. All participants of these programs were granted certificates by the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, Kookmin University.
In addition, Dr. Jaekyung Yi has been raising funds from Korean enterprises in order to help 25 Vietnamese students to do Business Administration in Korea with full-fee or half-fee scholarships. All of them have obtained the prestigious MBA degree from the Kookmin University.
At the meeting, Dr. Gyongwoo Yun and Dr. Jaekyung Yi said that they highly valued the personnel at HCMC USSH. KMU’s representatives hoped to gain cooperation with USSH in order to train high quality human resources for Vietnam, particularly in organizing exchange programs, human resource exchange, research and university admission. As for USSH, Vice President Phan Thanh Dinh expressed his wish to open a Vietnamese program or subject at Kookmin University, thereby facilitating mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges between the two universities’ lecturers, researchers and students.
Founded in 1946, Kookmin University is the first and also one of the biggest private universities in South Korea. Up to the year 2016, the University has established cooperation with over 270 universities worldwide. It now offers 15 different programs, both undergraduate and graduate, and some of its particularly well-known departments include design, business administration, automobile technology, fermentation fusion science, etc. with around 24,000 students.
