WORKSHOP: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY, PEER REVIEW, COMMERCIAL APPRAISAL, AT THU DAU MOT UNIVERSITY

On June 13, 2018, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian studies (CVSEAS) – University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) cooperated with Thu Dau Mot University (TDMU) to hold a workshop themed “Research Methodology; Peer Review; Commercial Appraisal” in order to enhance research capacities of lecturers, students as well as specialized staff working at the university. 

 

 

The workshop was a part of ENHANCE – Strengthening National Research And Innovation Capacities In Vietnam – Southeast Asia, a project directed by Alicante University in Spain; Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland; Slovak University of Technology in Slovakia, and funded by Erasmus+, EU. This workshop held at TDMU covered Module 5 - “Research Methodology; Peer Review; Commercial Appraisal”, one of the modules of ENHANCE project.

Participants in the workshop included Assoc. Prof. Hoang Trong Quyen – Vice President of TDMU, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of CVSEAS, along with a large number of lecturers, researchers, and specialized staff members at TDMU.

The presenter of the workshop, Ms. Van Thi Nha Truc – Lecturer of the Faculty of English Linguistics & Literature (USSH), discussed many practical and important aspects regarding the requirements of a research proposal, especially its structure and methodology, standards of peer review, types of peer review, process of peer review, as well as resources needed to enhance the research capacities.

Ms. Van Thi Nha Truc – lecturer at University of Social Sciences and Humanities Ho Chi Minh City lectures and coordinated the workshop on research related issues at universities

Additionally, the prestigious lecturer spent time reflecting, discussing and sharing her opinions on other topics including how to make an effective research proposal for foreign funds or scholarships. More interestingly, there were also concerns about how to write an internationally standardized paper for both national and international scientific journals. 

The workshop plays an important role in improving researcher’s capabilities, hence, strengthening the researching quality at the university.
