, 25/11/2020 18:11

On November 18th, 2020, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, members of the Board of Director of the V2WORK project had a meeting with the representatives of TOPCV – one of the top e-recruitment platform in Vietnam, about supporting students seeking for a job by using technology applications.

The meeting had a participation of Dr. Tran Le Hoa Tranh - Director of the Center for Career Orientation and Human Resource Development (Career Center), Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, HCM USSH, VNU and Ms. Dang Thi Chau Ngoc – TOPCV Southern Branch Manager. Besides, Mr. Tran Nhat Duy – Education training & scientific research specialist, representatives of Faculty of French Linguistics and Literature, HCM USSH.

In the opening part, Ms. Ngoc showed the job market status in the first 8 months in 2020. With the exact statistic figure, she noticed that the job market was fluctuated and had a severe impact by Covid-19. In the first pandemic phase, there were over 20.000 companies closed, while over 500.000 applicants looking for a job. The number of CVs sent to the TOPCV platform up to 6000 per day on average. Therefore, it showed that the job demand kept uprising all the time, in contrast, the company still couldn’t hire a suitable candidate for their vacancies.  This is a serious issue in the job market nowadays.

After listening to all problems mention above, Dr. Tran Le Hoa Tranh described the role of the Center for Career Orientation and Human Resources in supporting the student to seek for a job. Those practical activities such as: “Career Day” is organized annually and cooperated with many different faculties as well as many big projects and companies in Ho Chi Minh city; interview the students directly, create a great chance for them to meet the companies to ask for further information related to the recruitment process. Those extracurricular activities were not only meaningful with post-graduate students but also informative with under-graduated ones to orientate themselves for future jobs. Dr. Tranh also expressed her kindness to cooperate with TOPCV to develop and spread out more and more practical activities for students.
