INTRODUCING STIPENDIUM HUNGARICUM SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF HUNGARY
, 11/12/2020 22:12On Dec 7, 2020, Director Trần Đình Lâm attended the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship event of Hungarian government for Vietnamese students at the office of the Consulate General of Hungary in Ho Chi Minh City
In the meeting, Ms Szojka Éva Szilvia, General Consulate of Hungary in HCMC, claimed that the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship would help boost educational cooperation between Hungary and Vietnam. Hungary has been known as the country with largest numbers of Nobel prize per capita in the world. The education of Hungary has also been recognized by the EU as well as approved of its degree credibility.
The Hungarian government offers 200 full or partial cover scholarships taught in Hungary or English at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs for Vietnamese university and highschool students every year. High school and university students with outstanding academic records both stand a chance to compete for the scholarship. The application period is from September to December via the link of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam in the International news section.
In addition, Ms General Consulate contacted staff of the Education department in the Embassy of Hungary in Ha Noi to exchange more useful information regarding applying for scholarships as well as daily life in Hungary. It is estimated that approx 6,000 Vietnamese people are living and working in Hungary. The Vietnamese community in Hungary has left a better impression on native people compared with other expat communities living there.

In the event, Assoc Prof. Dr Đàm Sao Mai, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry shared about her time studying in Hungary before. She said that Hungary was a safe and hospitable country with affordable living expenses and a population less than 10 million people. Being one of 15 most attracting destinations in the world explicitly proved the potential of the country.
The scholarship covers a wide range of study fields such as agriculture, natural resources, arts, business management, medicine, education, IT and computer science. With various majors offered, the scholarship is supposed to provide Vietnamese pupils and students with more choices. Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship helps boost the collaboration as well as cooperation in the education sector and has become a tradition between Hungary and Vietnam.
