2020 MULTILINGUALISM DAY AND THE MANY LANGUAGES OF E.U.
	On September 28th, The European Parliament in Brussel hosted an online conference titled “Multilingualism Day” with the participation of members of the Parliament; was broadcasted in all 24 official languages of  the European Union. Not only did the event celebrate the diversity of culture and language, which is a well-known advantage of the Union. It also presented an opportunity for seasoned translators and interpreters to meet and exchange knowledge.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Sen, an alumni of Faculty of Library and Information Sciences - USSH, Vice Director of the library, welcomed the researchers.
On July 2nd, 2020, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam had a meeting with the consul delegates of 28 countries at the Caravelle Hotel to discuss Vietnam’s experience in combating the COVID-19 pandemic at the invitation of the Consul General of Hungary in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) – Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in HCMC.

DISCUSSION WITH MR. GAETAN W. DAMBERG-OTTOn September 9th, 2020, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam had a meeting with Mr. Gaetan W. Damberg-Ott - U.S. Politic Official and Mr. Le Minh Tri - Political Economy Specialist, both from the U.S Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, to talk about the social and economic development of Vietnam and the nation’s position as the Chairperson of ASEAN in 2020.

HANDOVER AND BRINGING INTO USE PARCEL OF BOOKS FOR PROJECT TOURISTOn September 8th, 2020, a handover and bringing into use parcel of books for the “Competence Center for the Development of Sustainable Tourism and Innovative Financial Management Strategies to Increase the Positive Impact of Local Tourism in Thailand and Vietnam” project (TOURIST*) took place in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Ho Chi Minh National University.
In the spirit of spreading project TOURIST’s ideas on eco-tourism, on August 29th, CVSEAS staff led by Professor Chung Hoang Chuong and Doctor Tran Dinh Lam, joined by many experts in the field tourism, visited Con Chim - Chau Thanh, Tra Vinh to exchange knowledge on sustainable development with the locals.

ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION ON DIGITAL DIVIDE IN SOUTHEAST ASIAOn August 26th, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam - Director of Center for Vietnam and Southeast Asia Studies - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City joined the roundtable discussion hosted by Mr Ernesto Braam - Regional Strategic Advisor of the Netherlands Embassy in Singapore. Other participants of the webinar were experts in Information Technology (IT) and digital economy.

RESEARCH APPROVAL: ILLEGAL CREDITS – CURRENT SITUATION AND THEIR IMPACTS ON FACTORY WORKERS IN SOUTHERN PROVINCES OF VIETNAMIllegal credits, often known as “black credit”, have been an enduring social issue, resulting in serious consequences both in life safety and social security. Not only does loan-sharking harm citizens but also damages Vietnam banks’ financial system. The current situation has called for effective and practical research studies to pinpoint causes and completely solve the problem.

MEETING WITH HUE SUB-INSTITUTE –  VIETNAM NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CULTURE AND ARTS STUDIES TO DISCUSS PROJECT TOURIST On July 27th, 2020, as a part of the TOURIST project, CVSEAS’s research team paid a visit to Dr. Tran Dinh Hang – Director of Hue Sub-Institute, Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, in order to study community based tourism in central Vietnam. Dr. Le Anh Tuan – Vice Director of the Sub-Institute and other staff also joined the meeting.
	From July 23rd to July 25th, as part of project TOURIST’s promotions,  CVSEAS’s research group, consisting of Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Mr. Pham Thanh Thoi, and Mr. Nguyen Hong Truc, went on a field trip to three tourist attractions across the South Central Coast of Vietnam. Their destinations were Dong Gia Organic Farming Group (Cam Thanh), Cu Lao Cham Marine Park (Quang Nam), and Go Co - Sa Huynh Village (Quang Ngai).
