THE VIETNAM EMPLOYABILITY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP SUPPORT NETWORK SIGNING CEREMONY IN HANOI On October 29th and 30th, 2020 in Hanoi University of Science and Technology, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University had attended the signing ceremony VEES-NET within the framework of the project V2WORK. The representatives of HCM USSH were Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh – Vice Chancellor, Dr. Tran Le Hoa Tranh - Director of the Center for Career Orientation and Human Resource Development (Career Center), Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies. This is the network of cooperation from 8 universities around Vietnam with the aim of helping post-graduate students looking for a job. The network is conducted with the support of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and AIESEC Vietnam.  

TALK WITH DR. HA VAN SIEU ON TOURISM POST COVID-19 PANDEMIC “Tourism after Covid-19 is geared toward community-based tourism”, said Dr Ha Van Sieu, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT). Discussing the TOURIST project* with Dr Tran Dinh Lam, he strongly emphasized the idea of developing community-based tourism. The meeting took place on October 10th, 2020 at the headquarters of VNAT in Ha Noi.  

PARTICIPATING IN A SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR: US-CHINA STRATEGIC COMPETENCE IN SOUTHEAST ASIA SEA

On 15 October 2020, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended a scientific seminar focusing on the topic: “US-China strategic competence in the Southeast Asia Sea” hosted by Faculty of International Relations - USSH.

AMBASSADOR PHAM QUANG VINH SHARED ABOUT THE 2020 UNITED STATES PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

On October 16th, 2020, members of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies took part in the conversation of the former Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh about the topic “The 2020 United States of America Presidential Election” in Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

DISCOVERING POTENTIAL FOR SUSTAINABLE WATERWAY TOURISM IN HO CHI MINH CITY On October 17th, 2020, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) conducted fieldwork on the Nhieu Loc Canal, Ho Chi Minh City as part of Work Package 4 of project TOURIST*. The occasion also doubled as an opportunity for consultation between experts on the development of sustainable waterway tourism on the Nhieu Loc Canal.

TOURIST TRAINING WORKSHOP: DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABLE HOMESTAY IN HO CHI MINH CITY

On October 16th, 2020 in USSH, as a part of TOURIST’s training course, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies hosted a training workshop about the topic: “Development of sustainable homestay in Ho Chi Minh City” with the participation of representatives of two local homestay businesses in HCMC.

ERASMUS SEMINAR 2020: SHARE, EXCHANGE AND COOPERATE FOR DEVELOPMENT

On October 16th, 2020 representatives  from 18 universities across Vietnam joined the “Building a network amongst participants running the project funded by ERAMUS ” seminar hosted by Ho Chi Minh University of Natural Resources and Environment (HCMUNRE) via Google Meet. Dr. Lê Thị Kim Thoa, Vice Dean of Faculty of Marine resources and islands management organized the seminar to introduce on-going projects and share challenges when implementing them in reality.

CELEBRATING THE DOUBLE TENTH DAY OF TAIWAN

On October 10th, 2020, a celebration was held to commemorate the 109th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) with the participation of the Consul Generals, the members of the Consulates General and the Trade Associations in Ho Chi Minh City. The representatives of VNU-HCM were Assoc. Prof, Dr. Vu Hai Quan - Vice Chancellor of VNU-HCM, Dr. Le Thanh Long - Director of Department of External Relations, Dr. Phan Thanh Dinh - Vice Chancellor of USSH, Dr. Tran Cao Boi Ngoc - Vice Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Dr. Tran Dinh Lam - Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies.

 

MEETING WITH TSENG HSIAO FENG – LAWRENCE ON OPPORTUNITY TO EXCHANGE AND COLLABORATE FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

On September 24th afternoon, Dr Trần Đình Lâm, Director of CVSEAS had a talk with Mr Tseng Hsiao Feng - Lawrence, Head of Department of Economics, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Ho Chi Minh City. The two leaders discussed economic collaborations and exchanges between Taiwan and Vietnam as well as Vietnam’s vision in the chairmanship year 2020. Mr Sonny Chen Hsiao - Cheng, Secretary of TECO in HCMC also took part in the meeting.

DISCOVERING THE OPPORTUNITY IN GREEN TOURISM DEVELOPMENT WITH PHUC KHANG CORPORATION

On 9th October 2020, in the framework of work package No.4 of TOURIST project, CVSEAS’s research team, led by Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, had a meeting with Ms. Luu Thi Thanh Mau - CEO of Phuc Khang Corporation in order to explore opportunities in green tourism development in the new urban area in HCMC. The meeting also had the participation of Ms. Le Thi Hong Na,  officer and specialist of the Office of Green Building Research and Development, Phuc Khang Corporation.
