Seminar “Vietnam – ASEAN: A Practical Strategy for a Stronger Community” was held at University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) - Vietnam National University, HCMC on 25/05/2015. With the presentation of Dr. Sophie Boisseau du Rocher– Asian Center, Paris School of International Affairs, the event drew more than 240 attendees.
DISCUSSION ABOUT RESEARCH PROJECT ON CLIMATE CHANGE WITH PROF. SCOTT FREY, UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, THE USOn May 14, 2015, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam and Prof. Scott Frey, Dean of the Department of Sociology, University of Tennessee (the US), visited Dr. Nguyen Van Kien, Director of the Research Center for Rural Development, An Giang University to discuss a cooperative study on climate change in the Mekong Delta.
Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, together with 20 Korean students who are studying at the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies, HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities, paid a visit to the Nobland Company on April 06 to learn about the environment of foreign investment in Vietnam.
CONFERENCE “MANAGEMENT IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY”The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies will organize a conference with the theme “Management in information Technology”
From 24-27 February, 2015, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, together with Prof. Seiko Ono and Prof. Bui Chi Trung from the Aichi Shukutoku (Japan), had a field trip to the K’hor ethnic community in Da Lat.
On the morning of March 24, Prof. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, and Prof. Mikio Masaki from Hokkaido University, Japan, paid a visit to the Department of Business Administration, University of Economics HCMC.
The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies cooperated with the Department of Social Works to conduct a seminar titled “The Inclusive Society in Vietnam from a View of Accessibility”, presented by Dr. Uwano Toshiyuki from the University of Tokyo.
Prof. Ruben Juarez from the Faculty of Economics, University of Hawaii at Manoa – USA paid a visit to the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies on the occasion of his trip to Vietnam on 27 and 28 March 2015 to learn about the Vietnamese’ need of pursuing a doctoral degree in economics.
CONFERENCE OF THE NETWORK OF ASEAN STUDIES IN THAILANDOn 27 March, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies participated the conference on “Building a network of ASEAN centers”, organized by the Center for ASEAN Studies, Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand. This was the second conference of these centers. The first one was held on 7 and 8 July 2014. Attending this conference were 18 centers for Southeast Asian Studies of big universities from 10 member countries of ASEAN (including Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, etc.)
On March 10, 2015, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended a seminar hosted by Prof. Chun Taeck-so, Economic Professor and Director of the Office of Korean Studies, South Korea. There was also the presence of Prof. Dr. Phan Thu Hien – Dean of the Faculty of Korean Studies and many students.
