On November 16, 2016, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies had a great honor to welcome Mr. Ernesto H. Braam LL.M., Regional Strategic Advisor for Southeast Asia at the Dutch Embassy in Singapore; Mr. Simon van der Burg, Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Vo Tran Nhan Trung, lecturer at the Faculty of International Relations and its students at the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
On November 07, 2016, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, had a discussion with Prof. Hannes Ebert about Vietnam’s status and its role in Southeast Asia to “the rise of China”.

At the end of last September in Ho Chi Minh City, Prof. Bui Tung from the University of Hawaii (USA) had an introduction to studying overseas in Hawaii. Prof. Bui Tung, with a doctoral degree in Managerial Economics, is the Director of the Pacific Research Center for Information System Management and also the Director of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Study Center (APEC-Study Center) of the University of Hawaii. Realizing that the opportunities for Vietnamese students to study abroad in Hawaii are opening, Prof. Bui Tung collaborated with the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, to provide them with one step closer to their dream of studying in a foreign country.
The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) collaborated with the ALUE, a corporation in human resource training in Japan, to organize a training program for employees of the ANA Airport Services Co., Ltd. (Japan). The program lasted from 10 to 14 October, 2016 with various interesting and practical activities.
On the morning of September 29, 2016, Prof.Dr. Bui Tung from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (USA) delivered a talk on leadership skills in the digital era, especially decision-making skills. The event was jointly organized by the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies.
On October 3-5, 2016, all partners of the ENHANCE Project attended the first round table, project coordination meeting and training workshop hosted by the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities. After 3 days of working together, the project members reviewed the relevant activities of the past 6 months and proposed an agenda for the next 6 months. Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, and Dr. Bui Anh Tien, Deputy Head of the Office of Scientific Research and Project Management, represented the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities at this important conference.
An opening ceremony of the exhibition “Japanese Pottery: The Rising Generation from Traditional Japanese Kilns” took place at the exhibition hall located at 92 Le Thanh Ton Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) on October 14, 2016. Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, was present at the event.
