On November 28, 2014, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) met up with Prof. Reed Dasenbrock, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

The Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies hosted a seminar on “Economics as a Foundation for Competition Law” at the HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities on December 12, 2014.

On the framework of his study in Vietnam, Dr. Masami Ishida, Institute of Developing Economies and the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies continued to visit Baconco Company at the Phu My Industrial Park in Tan Thanh, Ba Ria Vung Tau and Starprint Vietnam Co., Ltd. at the Amata Industrial Park in Long Binh, Bien Hoa, Dong Nai on October 20th, 2014.

By placing the oil rig HD-981 in Vietnam’s proclaimed EEZ off the disputed Paracel Islands, China has profoundly affirmed its assertive policy of “monopolising” the South China Sea. The security order in the Sea is in flux, and the time is right for a fundamental reassessment of key trends there.

Prof. Koji Domon from the Waseda University (Japan), together with Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, worked with representatives of Ajinomoto Vietnam Co., Ltd. to have discussions about copyright and issues related to counterfeit trademarks on October 19, 2013.
