On the morning of March 13th, 2009 Priof. Takei Atsuo (Tokyo University of Information Sciences, Japan) gave a talk to the learners of the IT Japanese on research project for the sustainable development of economic and social structure dependent on the environment of the eastern coast of Asia at CVSEAS.

One of the most famous universities founded by overseas Chinese, University of Nanyang Technology (Singapore) organizes programs of granting scholarships and student exchanges with Universities of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, HCMC) every year.

Learning Japanese should be in tandem with learning Japanese culture. Under the above motto, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies cooperates with Nhat Tinh Viet Joint Stock Company to found a Japanese Chess Club. The Club officially opened on the afternoon of March 3, 2009.

On the afternoon of March 16th, 2009 a seminar on copyright in Vietnam was held under cooperation of Prof. Koji Domon (Waseda University, Japan) and Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS). Giving presentations to the seminar were Prof. Kiyoshi Nakamura, Prof. Koji Domon and Dr. Michael Yuan. Attending the seminar were composers Trần Mạnh Tuấn and Quốc Bảo, media representatives (Tuổi Trẻ, Người Lao Động, Sài Gòn Giải Phóng, Thanh Niên), lecturers and students in HCMC. Dr. Trần Đình Lâm, Director of CVSEAS, chaired the seminar and encouraged the audience to contribute many precious ideas. 

On September 25 2008, Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen, Rector of University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) attended the banquet on INS Gharial ship on the occasion of INS Gharial and INS Kulish, the two navy ships from Republic of India visiting Ho Chi Minh City.

On the morning of February 26th, 2009, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies joined the ceremony of signing an aid project between University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Japanese Consulate General in Hồ Chí Minh city. To support the research on Japan as well as to create advantages for teachers and students of Japanese studies, Japanese Consulate General agreed on implementing the project “Japanese cultural non-refundable aid on the small scale – providing the equipment and facilities to study Japanese” funded by Japanese government with the aid of USD67,632.

Having known that Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies has trained a class of Information Technology Japanese, three Japanese companies specializing in IT (Asojuku, Mitsui and VTM Viiệt Nam) visited and had a short talk on IT human recruitment for Japanese markets with the Center on February 26th, 2009. 

On February 15th, 2009 the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies held a talk on Vietnamese coffee with Prof. Ikemoto Yukio (the National University of Tokyo), Mr. Takahashi (Mitsubishi Group) and Ms. Kim Kihuen (organic agriculture researcher).

On two nights November 10-11,2009, Okinawa Chura Assembly played “Climate on the Southern Island” with the opera and dance on classical Ryukyu school (Japan) in HCMC Conservatoire. This is one of the activities in “Year of Japan – Mê Kông 2009).

On the afternoon of May 8, 2009, CVSEAS in accordance with Japanese Consulate General in Hồ Chí Minh City held a talk on: Economic Development and Culture. The talk attracted a lot of students and learners of IT Japanese class and provided them with useful lessons.
