Under the above motto, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies cooperates with Nhat Tinh Viet Joint Stock Company to found a Japanese Chess Club. The Club officially opened on the afternoon of March 3, 2009.

SEMINAR ON COPYRIGHT IN VIETNAMOn the afternoon of March 16th, 2009 a seminar on copyright in Vietnam was held under cooperation of Prof. Koji Domon (Waseda University, Japan) and Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS). Giving presentations to the seminar were Prof. Kiyoshi Nakamura, Prof. Koji Domon and Dr. Michael Yuan. Attending the seminar were composers Trần Mạnh Tuấn and Quốc Bảo, media representatives (Tuổi Trẻ, Người Lao Động, Sài Gòn Giải Phóng, Thanh Niên), lecturers and students in HCMC. Dr. Trần Đình Lâm, Director of CVSEAS, chaired the seminar and encouraged the audience to contribute many precious ideas.

ATTENDING THE AID PROJECT SIGNING CEREMONY BETWEEN USSH AND JAPANESE CONSULATE GENERAL IN HỒ CHÍ MINH CITYOn the morning of February 26th, 2009, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies joined the ceremony of signing an aid project between University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Japanese Consulate General in Hồ Chí Minh city. To support the research on Japan as well as to create advantages for teachers and students of Japanese studies, Japanese Consulate General agreed on implementing the project “Japanese cultural non-refundable aid on the small scale – providing the equipment and facilities to study Japanese” funded by Japanese government with the aid of USD67,632.

OKINAWA CHURA ASSEMBLY PLAYED On two nights November 10-11,2009, Okinawa Chura Assembly played “Climate on the Southern Island” with the opera and dance on classical Ryukyu school (Japan) in HCMC Conservatoire. This is one of the activities in “Year of Japan – Mê Kông 2009).
