SEMINAR AT UNIVERSITY OF ALICANTE, SPAIN
, 24/04/2017 17:04At the invitation of the University of Alicante, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam gave a seminar on Vietnam’s economic reform on March 27. The participants included Dr. Roberto Escarre – Director of the International Project Management Office, Prof. Ivan Rodriguez – Center of Technological Transfer Service, Prof. Oana Driha – Department of Applied Economic Analysis, professors, and postgraduates of economics alongside many students of other majors at the University of Alicante.
The professors made complimentary remarks on Vietnam’s rapid economic development during its transformation process as well as how the country maintained its social stability, although they said that competitiveness would be the momentum and foundation for sustainable development of a country. Investment in human resources is the key to industrialization in the future. The scholars also praised Vietnam for its achievements in poverty alleviation, adding that the country needs to refine its legal system in order to ensure equality for everyone. Prof. Oana Driha advised Vietnam to learn from foreign investors’ experience and make full use of internal strengths to boost the economy. Spain has long developed its tourism that is closely connected with nature, making it become an ideal destination for Vietnamese students to learn about this field. Dr. Roberto Escarre, with over 15 years of working in many cooperative programs with Vietnam, now continues to sponsor a project on climate change for several universities in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, hoping that the countries collaborate with each other to protect the environment and exchange knowledge to minimize negative impacts of climate change so they can grow in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly way.
