MEETING WITH MR TAKEJI YOSHIKAWA - DIRECTOR OF JAPANESE CENTER FOR CULTURAL EXCHANGE IN VIETNAM
, 10/02/2009 09:02On September 28th, 2009, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies met with Mr Takeji Yoshikawa - Director of Japanese Center for cultrural exchange in Việt Nam during his attendance in the symposium on Japanese literature in HCMC.
Scheduled in the series of anniversaries of Japan-Mekong excahnge, the symposium on Japanese literature provided the audience with general and useful knowledge on Japanese literature. Mr Takeji delivered a speech with the desire of creating profound understanding between Vietnam and Japan.
At the symposium, professor Mitsuyoshi Numano presented the historical panorama and characteristics of Japanese literature. Besides, the professor igenerally introduced genres of Japanese literature, distinguished works and authors in each period. According to him, Oe Kenzaburo and Murakami were considered two pennames playing the important toles in Japanese comtemporary literature. Oe Kenzaburo is the second Japanese novelist to win a Nobel prize of literature (The first is Kawabata Yasunari). As for Murakami Haruki, his novels have become a phenomenon of the world literature. Most of his works have become the best sellers. Some critics stated that Murakami may be the following to win a Nobel prize of literature in the future.
After the symposium, Mr Takeji paid a visit and worked with CVSEAS. The talk dealt with the lecture of professor Momoki next November. Both sides discussed how to host the above lecture.
