From August 24 – 31, 2023, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies welcomed students from the University of Innsbruck, Austria to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (USSH - VNUHCM) as part of the annual Summer School program. The 2023 Summer School marks the 20th Anniversary since the first Summer School was organized in 2002.
On June 28, 2023 The Korea Institute of ASEAN Studies - Busan University of Foreign Studies (KIAS-BUFS), in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, hosted an informative talk titled "Korea's Indo-Pacific Strategy and Indonesia-Korea Relations." The event featured Mr. Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela, a prominent Indonesian diplomat currently serving as the coordinator of the Korean region at the Directorate of East Asia in the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the distinguished speaker
From May 9 to 12, 2023, The ASEAN Intellectual Property Academy and USPTO Global Intellectual Property Academy organized the Indo-Pacific Regional Workshop on Enforcement Against Food Fraud and Trade in Counterfeit Agricultural Goods. The workshop was held at The Lancaster Bangkok Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, with the presence of prominent figures in the field, including Mr. Peter N. Fowler, Senior Counsel for Enforcement at USPTO; Mr. Matthew Kohner, Regional Intellectual Property Attaché for Southeast Asia at USPTO; experts, authorities, and stakeholders from various organizations to address the critical issues of food fraud and counterfeit agricultural goods in the Indo-Pacific region. Dr. Tran Dinh Lam - Director of International Cooperation Program at CVSEAS, also attended the event.
On February 24, 2023, Center for Vietnam and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS), University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNUHCM held a Scientific Conference “Impacts of climate change on farmers' livelihoods and agricultural land use in Hau Giang province: New challenges and Solutions” at Room D202, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, 10 - 12, Dinh Tien Hoang St., District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
On February 10 and 11.2023, CVSEAS’s delegation including Dr. Tran Dinh Lam and Mr. Nguyen Hong Truc attended the Japanese Natural Agriculture Workshop hosted by Nico Nico Yasai Company. The workshop took place in Ea Na Commune, Krong Ana, Dak Lak province.
On 28 October 2022, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, USSH HCMVNU and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hau Giang province hosted a seminar “Impacts of climate change on livelihood and agriculture land use in Hau Giang: New challenges and solutions”. HANOI -- Flip over an Apple Watch or MacBook box in the future, and it might say, "Assembled in Vietnam."From August 25 to August 31, 2022, the Center for Vietnam and Southeast Asian Studies welcomed students and professors from the University of Innsbruck, Austria for the Summer Program 2022. This is the first program after two years of suspension due to the Covid pandemic. The students are from different faculties of the University of Innsbruck as well as other universities in Austria.
On 15 June 2022, Phong Hong, a 2022 FLAS fellow began his online Vietnamese program with the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies. Phong is pursuing his Master degree in Computational Epidemiology & System Modeling at the University of Michigan. His aim is to refine his Vietnamese reading and writing skills as well as exploring public health policy in Vietnam, which will greatly benefit Phong’s research in the coming years.
