Visiting Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) - India
, 01/08/2011 20:08On December 19, 2010, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies with Japanese professors and University of Pennsylvania, USA worked with doctoral fellows at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), one of the most famous universities in New Delhi, India in the field of social sciences.
The doctoral fellows talked about the reality of student life at university and answered the questions of the delegation.
The Indian government has offered so many benefits to students at university. In each semester students pay only about 5 dollars for tuition fee. On living expenses a student spends only about 20-30 dollars a month.
With the advantage of their English, the doctoral fellows can work part time on the Net and earn about 50 to 70 dollars a month. This amount is very large compared with the monthly amount they receive from their family about 5 to 25 dollars a month. All students have received scholarships from the Government of India.
