On November 02, 2017, on his visit to the Souphanouvong University, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam had a meeting with Prof. Sianouvong Savathvong, the school’s Vice President. Dr. Lam presented two books titled “Small and medium-sized enterprises: The Way to Success” and “The Economic, Cultural and Social Life of Bahnar People – Sustainable Development” to the university’s library.

From 25-27 October, 2017, the ENHANCE Project’s partners participated in workshops held at the Can Tho University, Can Tho City. The event’s attendees included representatives of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU HCMC (HCMC USSH), namely Dr. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, HCMC USSH’s Vice President and Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies. There was also the presence of the ENHANCE’s members: University of Alicante – Spain (Dr. Roberto Escarre, Mrs. Noelia López, and Mrs. Olga Bloshchinska), Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava – Slovakia (Dr. Andrej Soltesz, Dr. Andrej Bartok, and Dr. Julius Soltesz), Glasgow Caledonian University (Prof. Jim Woodburn, and Mrs. Rose Cawood), Thai Nguyen University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU Hanoi, Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Social Sciences and Humanities – VNU Ho Chi Minh, Can Tho University, and An Giang University.

On 27 October, 2017, a representative of the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended the scientific conference on Vietnam – Arab World relations: opportunities, challenges, and development organized by the Department of Arabic Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMC USSH). The conference’s participants included many distinguished guests and representatives of HCMC USSH, Consulate General of the State of Kuwait in Ho Chi Minh City, and Embassy of Oman alongside other scholars such as Prof.Dr. Ngo Van Le – former President of HCMC USSH, Dr. Pham Tan Ha – HCMC USSH’s Vice President, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Yen – Deputy Head of Office of Scientific Research and Project Management, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phan Thi Yen Tuyet, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Van Viet – Director of Thai Center, Dr. Ho Minh Quang – Dean of Faculty of Oriental Studies, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan – Vice Dean of Faculty of Oriental Studies, Mr. Khaled Falah al-Mutairi – Consul General of the State of Kuwait, Mr. Mohammed Khalifa Al- Busaidi – Deputy Chief of Mission from the Embassy of Oman, Mr. Fahad Yahya Al Rahbi – representative of the Oman’s Ministry of Education, and Prof. Aly Said Salim Al Ryam from Sultan Al Qaboos University.

From 03 to 05 October, 2017, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS), attended the international conference on regional and national approaches towards the sustainable development goals in Southeast Asia and ASEAN jointly organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and Center for ASEAN Studies, Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia), alongside Groningen Research Center for Southeast Asia and ASEAN (the Netherlands) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

SUMMER SCHOOL VIETNAM 2017 FOR STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIASUMMER SCHOOL VIETNAM 2017 FOR STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA

From 15 to 21 September 2017, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) welcomed a group of students from the University of Innsbruck (Austria) who were scheduled to participate in a summer short-term course. This is an annual program jointly organized by CVSEAS and the University of Innsbruck. This year is the 16th time that CVSEAS has co-organized with the University of Innsbruck to run this summer school with the purpose of creating opportunities for Austrian students to study and have field trips to some well-known places as well as manufacturing companies in Vietnam.

On September 14, 2017, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies (CVSEAS) ran a seminar on “Solar Energy and Climate Change” presented by Prof. Michiko Yoshii from the Okinawa University (Japan). The event witnessed the presence of Dr. Tran Dinh Lam – CVSEAS’s Director, representatives of different Departments of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE): Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh – Deputy Head of the Office of Water, Mineral Resources and Hydrometeorology, Binh Duong’s DNRE, Mr. Dinh Viet Cuong from Dong Thap’s DNRE, Mrs. Chau Truc Phuong from HCMC’s DNRE, Mrs. Tran Hong Lan from Office of Climate Change, HCMC’s DNRE, together with lecturers and students from the Faculty of Urban Studies, HCMC University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, CVSEAS’s Director, alongside with the Center’s research staff, welcomed the distinguished guest.
