On July 9th, 2009, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies took part in the seminar: Opportunity for cooperation of trading with Japanese enterprises. The seminar was held by Dream Incubator Việt Nam (DI) in coordination with Vietnam chamber of commerce and industry (VCCI) in order to announce the foundation of Asian Industrial Fund of DI. 

During the time between June 03 and June 15, 2008, the Health Anthropology Research Group undertook a survey into Environment and Health in the area of An Hoa Ward – Hue City – Thua Thien Hue province (with 50 selected households of 199 people), as well as Tham Don Commune – My Xuyen District – Soc Trang province (with 50 selected households of 202 people). This survey was conducted with the cooperation among Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies – USSH, Cho Ray Hospital, and Department of Human Ecology – University of Tokyo.

The steering board of CVSEAS had an interview with Prof. Koji Domon and Prof. Makamura Kiyoshi from Waseda University (Japan) together with invited guests, who are singers and composers, about the issue of musical copyright in Vietnam. 

The followings are some quotes of the talk by Professor Ikemoto (University of Tokyo, Japan) on October 10 2007, at Hall D101:

"I have been working on poverty in Vietnam for more than ten years. At the beginning, I focused on income aspect of poverty as most economists do. But a few years later, when I visited “poor villages” of ethnic minority people in the Central Highland, I found that income approach may rather deteriorate the quality of life (QOL) because their cultural life is not appropriately taken into consideration. Diversified cultural and environmental conditions require diversified approach. However, we need an integrated evaluational space, for which Amartya Sen proposed his capability approach."

On March 3rd, 2008 a student delegate from Waseda University (Japan), led by Prof. Tsuboi, has had a visit to University of Social Sciences and Humanties and participated in an exchange program with four-year students from Faculty of Oriental Studies.

Among those who participated in the student exchange program, there is the attendance of M.A. Bang Anh Tuan – Director of Office for International Cooperation, Ph.D. Tran Dinh Lam – Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong and Mr. Kosin - lecturers from Faculty of Oriental Studies. Besides, the program was host with the participation of 15 students from Waseda University and 20 students major in Japanese studies from Faculty of Oriental Studies.

On March 13, 2008, in cooperation with The Saigon Times, Center for Vietnamese and South East Asian Studies gave a presentation on “Oral History” presented by Prof. Ngo Vinh Long, Maine State University – USA, at the conference room of The Saigon Times, 35 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia St.

On the morning of June 19, 2008, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies welcome Associate Prof. Dr. Shawn Frederick McHale – George Washington University as the speaker of the talk on “US and Southeast Asian Relations – Past and Future”. The presentation was made at room A001.

On May 31, 2008, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies has organized the seminar on “Consumption's Psychology and Culture: Market qualitative - quantitative testing and enterprise orientation" at Nha Trang meeting room, 5th floor, Sheraton Hotel (88 Đồng Khởi, District 1, HCMC) with the participation of Prof. Tôn Thất Nguyễn Thiêm as key speaker.

On Thursday April 24, 2008, the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies had a meeting and working session with the delegation of professors from Leeds University (United Kingdom) and Notre Dame University (United States of America).

In the morning of March 26, 2008, in coordination, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, and The Saigon Times held a presentation about “Communications and Science” at the conference room of Saigon Times Club (35 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia St.).

Attended at the presentation were agencies of communications (several newspapers – Tuoitre News, Phap Luat Newspaper, Vietnamnet online newspaper, Saigongiaiphong Newspaper, Khoahocphothong Newspaper…and television stations – Longan TV, Binhduong TV, etc.), lecturers and students (of USSH, Hoasen University, University of Medicine and Pharmacy at HCMC), Tre Publishing House, and companies (Ha Tien Joint Stock Company, Thai Binh Company, Masso Company Ltd.).
