On the morning of April 19, 2010 Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies held a report on marital relations and land use rights of Cil people made by Dr. Honda Mamoru. Attending the report were Master Bang Anh Tuan, Head of International Cooperation, Assoc. Ptof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hue, Dean of Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Yen Tuyet, Faculty of Vietnamese Studies. As for the Center, Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Prof.Dr. Thanh Phan and the specialists took part in it.

On the afternoon of March 24, 2010, at the National University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, Center for Vietnamese and South East Asian Studies held a seminar on copyright law in developing countries, chaired by Prof. Nakamura and Prof. Koji Domon with the participation of the representatives of Center for protecting copyright law, Publishing houses, journalists, TV reporters and lecturers. The Seminar, “Copyright in Developing Countries,” had Vietnamese and Japanese experts presenting on this important topic that is currently being debated about all throughout South East Asia and the developing world.

Recently, on behalf of the Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City, Prof. Dr. Huynh Thanh Dat, vice-director and the Rector of USSH, Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen awarded a national medal for educational achievements to Professor Edward J. Baker III, former curator of Harvard Yenching Institute scholarship.

On the morning of March 26, 2010, The Center for Vietnamese and South East Asian Studies at the Social Sciences and Humanities University, Ho Chi Minh City held a conference on the current and future high-speed rail systems in Japan. Professor Sasama Hiroshi from Tokyo-Joho University, Japan, presented on “Japan’s current and future high speed railways,” a topic of great importance all over the world because of current trends of global warming, transportation issues, and the increasing trend to move people eco-friendly and efficiently. Japan’s current rail system is not only one of the most efficient in the world, but also creates substantially less pollution than cars, buses, and planes. Also, in the near future Japan’s Maglev (magnetic levitation) train will compete with plane transportation, quickly becoming the fastest, safest, and most reliable means of transportation.

On April 9, 2010, Assoc. Dr. Huynh Thanh Dat, Vice Director of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City and Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended the reception on the occasion of traditional Tet Boun Pi May at the Consulate General of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City.

On March 18 and 19, 2010, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended the International Conference "The process of modernization of Japanese and regional literature in the area of Han culture: Vietnam-China-South Korea from the late XIX century to the early XX century". The Workshop was held by the Faculty of Language - Literature with funding from Japan Foundation.

On 26.03.2010, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies held a seminar to introduce Kimono and Japanese calligraphy.The presentation was run by Professor Kiyoshi Matsuda and 5 Japanese specialists. Nearly 100 students from different universities in Ho Chi Minh city (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Open University, University of Foreign Languages and Informatics, University of Hong Bang, Van Hien ...) participated in a vigorous way.

On the morning of March 1, at University of Social Sciences and Humanities of Ho Chi Minh City, staff and students were welcomed to the meeting and exchange with Japanese students. The school included Dr.Tran Dinh Lam - Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies, Master Bang Anh Tuan - Head of International Cooperation Department and students from Faculty of Oriental Studies and International Relations. Japanese delegation led by Professor Yoshiharu Tsuboi, along with students of political sciences from prestigious Waseda University had discussions with Vietnamese partners.
