ATTENDING THE 35TH ANNIVERSARY OF LAOTIAN NATIONAL DAYOn December 2, 2010, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies participated in the 35th anniversary of National Day of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos. Attending the anniversary were leaders of HCM City and the provinces, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Huynh Thanh Dat, Vice Director of Vietnam National University- Ho Chi Minh City, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen, President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies.
On May 15-16, 2010 Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies participated in the international conference: The Construction of communities of Asia, funded by The Asian Culture Exchange Foundation. The speakers came from the universities: Korea, Japan, Turkey, India, China and Vietnam, etc.
On September 14 and 15, 2010, Centre for Vietnamese and South-East Asian Studies - University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University HCMC organized a Symposium and Senior Dialogue on "Japanese and Vietnamese Business Culture", sponsored by Japan Foundation.
On November 12th, 2010, Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies held a seminar: "The impacts of the major sports events” presented by Prof. Chris Auld-Griffith Business School (Australia). Attending the Seminar were Faculty of Oriental Studies, Faculty of International Relationship, Occupational Training class of Kent Institute and Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies.
MEETING WITH DR. YEOH SENG GUAN FROM MONASH UNIVERSITY, MALAYSIADr Yeoh Seng Guan, specializing in Anthropology, Monash University, Malaysia, visited and worked with Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies at University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCMC for 5 days, November 15 to 19, 2010.
A PROGRAM OF VISITING AND UNDERSTANDING VIETNAM BY WASEDA UNIVERSITY STUDENTSFrom September 12 until September 16, Centre for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies organized a program of visiting and understanding Vietnam for a group of students from Waseda University, Japan.
On November 16, 2010 Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended the inauguration of Center for Vietnam – Hiroshima at University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City. Attending the ceremony were Assoc.Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen, President of HCM USSH, Mr. Furudate Seiki, representing the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, representatives of Japanese businesses, teachers and students of University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City.
SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE: “JAPAN AND THE MEKONG SUB-REGIONS – HISTORICAL RELATIONSHIP”On October 29 and 30, 2010, Center of Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies – University of Social Sciences and Humanities, participated in a scientific conference: ”Japan and the Mekong sub-regions – historical relationship” funded by the Japan Foundation. Attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. Shiraishi Masaya – Waseda University, Prof. Ueda Yoshiaki – Deputy director of Vietnam-Japan Economic Center, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saykhong Saynasine – Vice Rector of National University of Laos, etc.
On the morning of November 4th, 2010, Prof. Dr. SHIN Gyeonggu, Dean of Office International Affairs, Chonnam National University (CNU), Korea, paid a visit to Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies.
MEETING WITH DR. GEORGE D. MEIEROn November 23, 2010 Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies attended the meeting with Dr. George D. Meier, a lecturer in Faculty of International Business and Project Management of University of California, Irvine, USA. Meeting with Dr. George D. Meier were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen, President of University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Master Bang Anh Tuan, Head of Department of International Cooperation and Dr. Tran Dinh Lam, Director of Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies.
